    This class will develop students' abilities to be in the moment, truthful, and honest in their work, through activities and exercises in class.The Meisner Technique, named after its creator Sanford Meisner, was developed as a way to teach actors to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances” using a series of foundational exercises that build one upon the other. Through his experience of creating and teaching this series of interrelated exercises, Meisner developed a technique that provides a proven and reliable framework to help actors “get out of their heads” and focus their attention on the core elements needed to act honestly and genuinely.

    With the Meisner Technique, the actor develops an intuitive and keen awareness of “who they are” emotionally and physically which allows them to utilize these aspects effectively and instinctively. They learn to connect quickly and deeply to scene partners as well as to their imaginary circumstance. In this way, the work takes on the natural qualities of real life as it is expressed through art. The actor learns to replace “acting” and imitation with genuinely deep and truthful connection.

Professional Youth
Program (ProClass)

We are now taking applications for our annual professional program fro youth. This is an exclusive program that focuses on getting kids/teens working at the professional level on Television and film.

Next session will be held in February - June 2025. Group class meetings take place at San Jose Studio.

Acting For Kids
Thursdays!

  • Meets every Thursday from: 4:30pm-6:30pm

    Students will learn and experiment with acting through improvisation and the Meisner Technique. This FUN and CREATIVE class will build up kids' confidence as performers, expand their imaginations, and help them develop a strong foundation for their acting technique. This class is for both beginning students and those who want to further hone their acting skills.

Youth Summer Acting Academy 2025

Disney Week

  • Ages: 8-17
  • Dates: June 16, 2025 - June 20, 2025
  • Meets M-F from: (10:00am-4:00pm)
  • Location: San Jose Studio
  • Cost: $549 per month

    Actors will learn about comedic acting and work on scenes from popular Disney shows and films such as “Bunk'd", “Raven’s Home”, "Sydney to the Max", "Descendants" and other similar programs!

    Friday will be a FILM SHOOT where the students will get to have their final scene filmed! Final videos will be sent out to the families within 2 weeks of the final day of class.

    The Youth Summer Acting Academy is a program created by Bay Area Acting Studio's founder, Christy English. This program is designed for the novice, beginner, intermediate or advanced actor or non actor who just wants to have a great experience. If you want your child or teen to be involved in a creative, educational and engaging program then this is the place for them. Our young attendees will be trained and prepared to act in television or film whether they want to just have a fun experience or if they are preparing to work in the entertainment industry.

    Actors will explore the Meisner Technique of acting, improvisation, cold readings, working with scripts (made for film, television, and commercials), and acting in front of the camera! Additionally, participants will receive a video file of their final performance!

Acting for Film & TV!

  • Dates: June 23, 2025 - June 27, 2025
  • Meets M-F from: (10:00am-4:00pm)
  • Location: San Jose Studio
  • Cost: $549 per month

    Students will experiment with the Meisner Technique of acting and improvisation, and then learn how to apply their training towards on-camera acting for film and TV! This will be a CREATIVE and FUN learning lab for both beginning and advanced actors who want to build confidence playing in their art.

    Friday will be a FILM SHOOT where the students will get to have their final scenes filmed. Final videos will be sent out to the families within 2 weeks of the final day of class.

    Actors will experiment with improvisation and the Meisner Technique of acting to learn how to be more grounded, truthful, and confident performers.     Actors will learn audition technique for film, television, and commercials! They will also learn and practice improvisation skills which will help them be more flexible in their acting work and adapt to any "redirects" (notes) they receive in auditions and on set. Improv is a fun and super valuable skill for actors to have, and our students always have a blast practicing it ⭐️
